A primeira vez que muitas pessoas fizeram algo foi na faculdade. Minha primeira pintura a óleo foi na faculdade em 1990. Não posso afirmar que sei nada sobre Zen, mas a única coisa que aprendi em algumas aulas é abraçar as imperfeições do mundo ao seu redor. Eu gosto de abraçar as imperfeições da pintura.
Cada vez que faço uma nova pintura, meu objetivo é fazer uma obra de arte que deixe todo o planeta maravilhado. Sim, isso é ridículo, mas ainda é o objetivo de criar algo especial.

My somewhat new perspective as an artist, is it’s kind of my responsibility to make art that’s a reflection, or response to this moment in time in history on Earth. Decades after I’m dead, and people are wondering what it was like to live through the 2020’s. I want my art to help inform how profound the time was.

I started oil painting in my 2nd year of art school in 1990, and near the end of college, I lost the desire to create. Searching, I took a Zen Buddhism class from Cliff Edwards who wrote “Van Gogh and God”. This class and teacher indirectly helped me regain a desire to create that will stay with me forever.
